Charges & Terms 2007

General Photographic and IT work:

This is charged at £15 per hour or part hour. Please contact me for your specific requirements.

Weddings etc:

Wedding photography usually requires a fair amount of planning so there is a flat fee of £165 for the occasion.

The charge includes posting a selection of pictures on my website so that friends/relatives anywhere in the world can view them and order prints direct.

Print prices are listed below but I will offer a discount for multiple orders of the same print.

Please note that there will be a travel charge of 40p per mile.

Studio Photography:

Portrait photography is split into two parts. Firstly there is a "sitting" charge of £15. This normally takes up to an hour during which time I will take as many pictures as possible under a variety of lighting conditions and poses. This session will be held in the Container Gallery, Kinlochbervie. However my lighting system is portable so I can also visit your home providing you have sufficient space !.

Following the session I will filter the pictures to remove any that are not technically correct. The remainder will be presented to the client either at the Gallery or on a CD for viewing at home. The CD will only contain low resolution images suitable for viewing on a PC monitor.

Should the client wish to purchase any pictures the charge will be as listed below. Again a discount will be applied for quantity orders.

Please note that the source pictures will remain with Microft and I will be happy to produce extra prints at a later date if required.

Film & Print Scanning:

Print film (negative) and slides (positive) are scanned using a high quality scanner capable of 5400 dpi (dots per inch).

Prints up to A4 are scanned using a high quality Epson flatbed scanner with a similar resolution. Prints larger than A4 can be scanned as multiple images and stitched using industry standard software for a seamless result.

This resolution enables A4 and possibly up to A3 pictures to be digitally printed. Images are scanned at 4 different resolutions to enable viewing on different sized PC screens. The smallest picture can be used as a thumbnail on a web page. All images are saved in jpeg format. Files can be supplied on either CD or DVD

50p per Negative/Positive/Print

Minimum order £5

CD add £1.50

Printed CD (Not labelled) add £7.95 for first and £2.50 for subsequent disks.

Digital Picture Enhancement:

The price for scanning does not include any additional manipulation such as removal of unwanted objects (trees, telegraph poles, people) restoration of prints etc. All additional operations are generally time consuming.

Minimum £15 per Negative/Positive/Print

This includes 1 hour of work, additional work charged at £15 per hour.

Digital Printing:

Prints from scanned images are created using a very high quality printer, the latest generation of inks and paper, which is highly fade resistant.

The manufacturers claim that prints will last in excess of 100 years under normal lighting conditions. Naturally prints should never be exposed to direct sunlight - this applies to any media.

Prints can be made on Archival Matte Semi-Gloss, Cotton Rag or Tapestry paper and up to A3 size (soon A1).

Please note that very few pictures will look good at A3 and the negative or slide quality has to be excellent.

A4 prints cover a maximum of 18x27 cm to allow for a framing border.

A5 prints cover a maximum 12x18 cm. Note that any picture cropping will alter the maximum printable size.

Note: There is a minimum charge of £3 for all printing orders, please read terms at end of this list

Size Semi Gloss Matte Framed
A5 (12x18 cm) £1.45 £1.25 £11.95
A4 (18x27 cm) £9.95 £8.95 £19.95
A3 (40x27 cm) £22.95 £21.95 £39.95

Framed prices are guides and will depend upon moulding style. Please call into the Gallery to discuss your requirements.
