For 2012 I am offering two different calendars. Both versions are "hand printed" which just means I print them myself. This results in far better quality than getting prints online and helps me control costs by printing to order. However the downside is that I cannot compete with mass production costs.
Each calendar is packed in a display case which is similar to a cd outer. This can be opened and folded back for display, something that cannot be done with a cd.
The first is in Panoramic format and features 12 pictures from the local area. Well Ullapool is not that local but I just liked the picture.
This year I started to experiment with closeup and macro pictures of flowers. The idea is to build up a collection of local wild flowers which are many and varied in this area. To get the ball rolling I started off with a few bunches of flowers from Tesco which were quite pleasing. Unfortunately I developed an allergy which may have come from the chemicals sprayed onto these commercially grown flowers and I had several weeks of itching hands before the anti histamines kicked in. So I have suffered for my art....Anyway once the wild flowers started to appear on the Machair I stopped using shop flowers and switched to organic.
The technique for photographing close up details is a bit different as each of my images is made up of between 50 and 150 separate pictures which are then stacked. A single close up picture would only show part of the image in focus so the camera is moved forward a fraction of a millimeter and another picture taken which shows the next bit in focus.
